Top Welcome to Slovenia
Slovenia is a country where the Alps meet the sea, a country of geographical diversity and natural beauty that you will be able to observe already on the way from Ljubljana airport to the town of Portoroz. Portoroz and Piran are two towns next to each other. Old tradition of Piran is matched with modern amenities in hotels that offer relaxing atmosphere and splendour. The congress center is situated right in the middle of the two. The towns have many places offering pleasant atmosphere, with seafood restaurants and delicious wines. More... This year's ARVO meeting had many highlights which were impossible to catch by a single attendee. One of the most important topics was ocular angiogenesis including its pathogenesis and treatment. There may be accumulating evidence that besides VEGF, other molecules may take part in the process of ocular neovascularization, and with that mind, one may aim to develop specific blockers of these additional substances involved in the neovascularization process. Needless to say that due to the vast number of patients who could benefit of such new treatment strategies, the pharmaceutical industry also showed intense interest in such developments.
Ocular imaging, particularly the modern developments of optical coherence tomography was another main theme of ARVO 2007 highlightening the new possibilities to biomicroscopically see histological details in a spatial resolution unachievable so far. It also opens the possibility for functional imaging of the retina. The collaboration between ARVO and EVER has further been intensified. Download the full presentations There will be further collaborative EVER-ARVO symposia at this year's EVER, at the next Asia-ARVO in Hyderabad / India 2009, and the next ARVO in Ft. Lauderdale in 2008. Top Future EVER Meetings
